Hello, everyone! Welcome to the first edition of the SEED newsletter. As of this writing we do not have an official name for it yet. Perhaps, we will leave it open to suggestions from all of you.
For our inaugural edition we want to highlight the thoughts and feelings of our teachers during this unusual time. What challenges did they face in adapting to the situation? How were they able to connect with their friends, family, and students? Perhaps their experience had not been so different from yours, dear reader.
For myself, I was pretty happy to get an extra day or two of holiday. But then that, "holiday" kept going. Without a functioning laptop I was forced to connect with my friends, colleagues and students through my phone. As someone who'drather not be glued to a screen all day, it was often frustrating. But I was glad to reconnect with my students and I could tell that they felt the same.
We would like to thank all the teachers and tutors for contributing. We hope you appreciate what they have to share. As a school, we are continually finding new and better ways to connect with our students, parents and one another.
We have no doubt that things will return to a more normal state eventually. Although, perhaps things wont be quiet like they had been before. In the future, this may serve as a time capsule, something we can all look back upon .

Last month was so long for me. I’m looking forward to going back. And this month also is a big challenge for our school. But during this special period, all of us try our best to overcome these challenges. As a tutor，I helped teachers to encourage kids，and let them have confidence to join the online. And for some classes,I checked their homework and let students correct them. Additionally, I read some books during this time. It’s a good way to let me calm down，a great chance for me to settle down and think about my work and my life.

Last month had been quite a long period for being at home since I worked. At the beginning I felt excited and relaxed. Then, I was a bit anxious and uncertain about how the things would be. When I went to one of the most famous shopping mall to buy things, only the supermarket was open and the rest parts were dark and closed. It seemed that I was wandering through the end day movies. When I see the videos about the doctors and nurses who were trying so hard to cure and save lives, I could not stop my tears. All the relaxed life we had, were based on their hardworking. But, I still believed that all these would past, and we could be back around each other soon.
I found that working at home was a little bit hard to be self-disciplined. And during preparing the things, sometimes I would surf the Internet, have a snack, play games, or stare blankly. Wechat class, the Little Goose, the Reader class, and the self learning were all on going. I tried to cook, some succeeded, some failed; I chatted with friends sometimes, can also keep connection with each other and release the anxiety.
Hello, my name is Lisa. I love to laughand make lame jokes. I was born and
raised in South Africa. When I finished university, I moved to China to teach
English as a second language. I’m working at Seed Xuefu and Qunli schools. I have not been to work since January, which was before the Spring Festival. This is the same time the news about the Corona virus were made public. This caused a lot of confusion to most people, my self included as this meant that we needed to stay at our houses and not go outdoors. With regards to returning back to work after the holiday period, there was a lot of uncertainty from everyone as we were both trying to protect ourselves and keep in touch with everyone from work at the same time. However, we managed to find a way to get our school operating by being required to work from home.
This was the most frustrating as I had to think on my feet in terms of planning classes with very limited resources and materials, but as time went by, we were able to work together as a team and make life a little bit easier for everyone which was good. Besides working from home, there’s really big much I’ve been doing besides being in contact with my friends and family back home and staring at my four roomed house, not forgetting improving my cooking skills and getting as much rest as I can.
